Further evidence that the strict order of the LRU stack is losing its importance is shown in Figure 3.10. The figure shows the stack hit ratios of the LRU stack for one, four, and eight cores for some of the SPLASH-2 benchmark suite. For one core, the result is expected and known; the majority of the hits occur at the MRU position. But as we increase the number of cores, which in our case increases the number of threads, the MRU block becomes less important. Are these findings of any use to us? Let’s see.
