“Liv.” Jasmyn embraced her, squeezing tightly. “You silly goose. Why didn’t you meet us on the pier?”

Keagan hugged her next. “Really, Liv, you didn’t need to give us our space.”

She laughed. “Applesauce. Of course I needed to give you your space. Sit.” They sat on her couch, holding hands, as she sat in the recliner. “I’m always around you two.”

He winked. “Not always.”

“Well, okay.” She made a shooing gesture and grinned. “I am tickled to pieces. Congratulations. Did I already say that?”

“Twice, but who’s counting?” Jasmyn held a hand out to Tobi, who jumped on her lap and immediately purred loudly. Her ring—a beautiful setting of diamonds and a large sapphire that matched her eyes—sparkled.

“Listen to that. Tobi’s happy too.” Liv felt her own purr shift into a low gear. She feared to ask what came next. Did they have a date? Where would they go? She changed the subject. “Can I get you some tea?”

Keagan said, “No, thanks. We just wanted to tell you first.”

“And ask you a favor.” Jasmyn looked at him and he gave a slight nod. “Well, Sam has hinted that she and Beau might find a bigger apartment when they get married.”

Liv’s shoulder’s sagged. “I assumed they would. Her office space…”

“And his size.”

“And, too, there isn’t much privacy at the Casa. Every time you walk out the door, you’re in the courtyard with a neighbor or two. I can understand that you young couples would want something different. The Casa is good for singles and old—”

“Liv.” Jasmyn dumped Tobi onto Keagan’s lap and moved to the floor beside the recliner. She touched Liv’s arm. “We don’t want to go anywhere. We just want first dibs on Sam’s bungalow.”

Liv stilled her right hand that she realized was kneading her chest. “Don’t be silly. You’ll need—”

“To live here.” Keagan used his assertive tone.

She gazed at her two young friends. “But…”

“But nothing.” Jasmyn shook her head adamantly. “Your assistant manager lives on the premises. Your guardian angel slash knight in shining armor does too. We love you, Liv.”

Well, she loved them too. Maybe she could find her voice later to tell them.
