One last thing about >git pull : r emember the recommendation to merge the master branch into your branch often so that you don’t get too behind what other people are doing? This applies to merging the remote branch with your branch using >git pull , if you’re not working alone on that branch.

This is all I feel you need to know about Git in the beginning: all the basic concepts and the common usage. Both Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA have GUI tools for working with Git, which make life much easier and stuff more visual, but the underlying concepts are the ones you’ve learned here. You should be proud of yourself for getting through this, it is the hardest thing you’ll learn from this book. But it is worth understanding it, otherwise you’ll end up fearing and misusing it many times a day, frustrating your team. So get a break, reward yourself for finishing this chapter, and maybe later play some more with Git. We’ll continue when you’re ready again.
