That night Belinda and I resumed our study of Oriental gymnastics. She seemed to have cast off her earlier melancholia and was keen to make progress, for the challenging and somewhat intimidating page ninety-eight was still a fair distance away.

Off in their own bedrooms I knew Nigel was tumbling Faith, whilst Humphrey was putting Polly through her paces. She knew him from our Dale Cottage days, of course, for Humphrey had visited us a good few times. It would be unnatural not to feel a little jealous at the thought of them together, but I allowed it to go no further than that. Humphrey was an old friend as well as my guest and Polly was not my private property, so good luck to the pair of them. And in any case, I had Belinda.

The next morning was spent 'at play' in the customary fashion, with informal spankings interspersed with frequent couplings as the mood took the partygoers. I wasn't entirely surprised, given that she'd volunteered for Across-the-Board. I guessed Belinda's presence had much to do with it, for she'd shown Elizabeth a great deal of friendship and support during the autumn Exiles event at Cropton Manor. It seemed only logical my ward would wish to reciprocate by sharing whatever tribulations Lady X was obliged to endure.

'I'm delighted, of course,' I said. 'And Freddie won't mind?'

She shook her head. 'He's given me carte blanche in the matter. He said I must do whatever pleases and amuses me.'

'I'm happy to know he trusts you so completely, my dear.'

'As I trust him,' she said. 'This will be your very last opportunity to spank me, uncle.
