Looking down on Lindbergh Bay

On the Rocks

This was a day I will not forget as long as I live. I’d always wondered what it would be like to be aboard a ship when she struck the rocks or an iceberg. Now I know.

We were taking a delightful couple from Memphis out for a half-day sail and snorkel. The weather was ideal. The wind was from the east-southeast at twenty knots. Gypsy Wind loves that much breeze. We headed out for our normal “three-hour tour.” The southeast swell gave us an excellent opportunity to head to Saba Island just off the southwest corner of St. Thomas. The area around this island is known for great snorkeling and beautiful views.

Everyone was enjoying snacks and drinks, soaking up some rays, and having a great time.
