Teach (C2)

Do a brief teach on Acceptance Criteria. Link it back to the mind map by showing how any of the ideas on the mind map could be potential acceptance criteria, but that it is important when defining User Stories to be explicit about what is expected to work.

Confirmation

Acceptance criteria are part of the User Story. Remind the class about the 3C’s; acceptance tests are the confirmation part of the User Story.

Before Development

It is better to discuss acceptance criteria before you start development. In this way you can prevent bugs and additional complexity, that usually happen due to unspoken assumptions. It also helps clarify what needs to be tested, so that effort is not wasted on testing something that is not important to the business. You can illustrate this by going to your mindmap and crossing out a few branches e.g: We don’t need to deal with Credit Cards for our store at this point, we might only accept cash on delivery.
