Make Your Own Mock Mead
Mead was a sweet, alcoholic drink, but you can make a tasty version without the alcohol.
2 quarts cold water
3/4 cup honey
pitcher
1 orange
knife
cutting board
nutmeg
1 Mix the water and honey in a pitcher. Wash the orange, slice it thinly, and drop the slices into the pitcher.
2 Sprinkle with nutmeg and chill. Serve in metal or crockery mugs, if you have them.
Make Your Own Potage
Leave out the potato if you want to make a more authentic potage. Like corn, the potato came to Europe after the Middle Ages, from the Americas.
