Home Is a Place of Safety and Peace

When the people of Israel were on the brink of entering the Promised Land, Moses could not lead them in. He was allowed to climb a mountain to at least see the Promised Land before he died. So before he went, he shared this important thought: “The eternal God is your dwelling place, / and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deuteronomy 33:27).

Moses reassured God’s people, “You are in a place of uncertainty, but God is the One in whom you must trust; he is your refuge. He has brought you this far, and though I cannot lead you to your new home, he will bring you in safely. You are getting a new home, but never forget, God is your dwelling place.”

Many years later King David proclaimed this same truth. Though he was on the run from King Saul, who was seeking to kill him, he declared,
