“I’m telling you, I’m gonna be fine. I might be old, but I still know how to workout, little girl.”

“I know you exercise. I’m just saying, Kira’s pretty tough.” I woke up this morning to James softly stroking my back, a homemade vanilla latte sitting on the nightstand next to me and a text message from Kira informing me that she has space in class for him today and that she has the perfect playlist to drive him wild…whatever the hell that means. Keeks is a bit of loose cannon, and that makes me nervous.

Not that I’ve had time to focus on pre-class nerves when I’m trying not to eye fuck the man next to me. James looks fucking incredible in his sporty clothes. It’s simple athletic shorts and a sweat-resistant t-shirt, but every new facet of James’s wardrobe I’ve discovered over the last few days makes me weak in the knees. He drove me home this morning so I could change, and I couldn’t help but blush when he took in my outfit, swallowing hard as his eyes raked over the short, black bike shorts I’d chosen.

“I think I can handle her.” Famous last words. We walk into the building and I show James where to check in and get his cycling shoes. I lead him into Studio B, where I see Rachel and Kira’s friend Dottie occupying the first two seats in the front row.

Kira really wants us all to hit it off, and Dottie is so lovely, I don’t think it’ll be a problem. I release her, and James sticks his hand out to shake.

“James Adler. I think we met at that Instagram symposium last year,” he says, saving me the trouble of trying to introduce him. This is my boss, who is also my friend, whose bed I slept in last night while I fantasized about him fucking me stupid? Not a great option.

“Right, it’s good to see you again.” The lights dim and the production assistants urge everyone to find their bikes and clip in. Spin Sync does live productions of their classes that people can take at home with their own Spin Sync bikes, or using their app. I hop on my bike, Rachel on my left and James on my right, and the crew instructs us to start pedaling and clapping. The cameras roll as Kira enters the room like a celebrity, punching her fists in the air and high fiving students as she makes her way to the bike in the center of the room. The PA counts her down and the feed goes live.

“Welcome to hell, Spin Sync!”

An hour later, I’m still catching my breath from the intensity of that class. Kira put together the ultimate 2000's pop and hip-hop playlist. The girls and I had a great
