Patricia groaned as she tried to sit up and cradled the side of her head. “Oh, dear lord…my head.”

Hector scrambled over to her side. “You’re awake. I was worried.”

She cracked an eye open and blinked rapidly at him. “What happened? Where are we?”

He helped her to sit up and knew the moment she spotted one of the creatures as she gasped and scrambled backward.

“Hold on, hold on!” He moved closer and helped her prop against the rock outcropping. “Don’t panic,” he whispered to her.”

“T-t-they’re right…there!” She pointed to the closest sasquatch and Hector craned his neck to see which one she pointed at.

The tall brown female approached from behind and handed him some of the berries. Hector accepted them and thanked her. When he turned back to Patricia, she stared at him with wide eyes. “What the actual fuck?!”

Hector smiled and took one of the berries between his fingers. He squeezed it and reached for her temple. She batted his hand away and glared at him. “Answer me, Hector. What the actual fuck?”

He sighed heavily as he plucked another berry from the ground and gently squeezed it. “This is a natural medicine.” He held the oozing berry up and allowed her eyes to focus on it. “I think it helps keep shit from getting infected.” He shrugged. “I don’t really know, I just know that my really tall, big boobied friend there showed me that they’re for rubbing on wounds.” He leaned closer and held the berry up. “You got a nasty cut there.”

Her hand came up and touched the area. She winced as she pulled her hand back and stared at her fingers. “I see blood.”

“Most of it’s dried, but…” He leaned in closer and dabbed the wound with the berry. “There. Worst case scenario, it dyes your hair red.”

She scooted up and leaned against the rock. “Why haven’t they killed us?”

Hector shrugged. “No clue.” He glanced back at the brown female. “I’ve spent a little time with her and I gotta say…” he smiled at her. “She’s actually kinda nice.”

The strawberry-blonde female walked past them and barely glanced at the pair. “But that one? Cranky bitch. Not much of a sense of humor.”

Patricia stared at him. “You’re kidding me right now, aren’t you? We’re dead, right? This is like some unknown level of Hell where we have to live with the ones who murdered us.”

Hector chuckled again. “Hey, blondie over there wiped my ass.” He cringed slightly. “Not the best bedside manner, though.” He tugged at the wolf skin. “But she gave me this. I think she wanted me to wear it.”

Patricia glanced at the flannel shirt tied to his waist. “So they…” she swept her hand in circles and trailed off, unable to finish her thought.

Hector nodded. “They brought us here, cleaned me up, more or less. And gave me food.” His eyes lit up and he pointed to the brown one. “She’s got all kinds of veggies, and the strawberry-blonde one gave me some beef jerky but it was way bland.
