There was no time to be careful now. Darts thumped against her expeditionary suit. Barbs tore at her sleeves. Scorpion shrubs tried to sting and snare her. She managed to fight her way through it all, but not fast enough. The mech let out another discordant howl, its dozen eyes flashing red on its asymmetrical head. Lubricants dripping through its curved steel fangs.

This one was a carnivore. Consuming living flesh and repurposing it for the crazed machines that prowled this part of the earth. She only had seconds to live. She was going to be so much raw meat for the beast to transform into more machinery.
