Rosalina doubted sheâd ever sleep again.
Not with how alive she felt right now. It was as if her body and blood were electrified and she was running on a high she wasnât accustomed to.
That kiss.
So that was why people dated and got married.
Now she understood.
Sheâd been won over to the side of romance.
Who had she been kidding saying she didnât want a relationship?
It wasnât any old relationship she desired, though. It was Marco she wanted. No other would do.
No, not after her lips had been on his and sheâd tasted of him. Heâd tasted of butter popcorn, hot chocolate, Oreo balls, andâ¦well, something decidedly Marco.
Rosalina stared at herself in the mirror of her bathroom, after having washed her face and changed into pajamas, and she touched her fingertips to her lips.
SurelyâsurelyâMarco knew she wasnât dating him for fake now. Not after she kissed him like that.
Whatever had possessed her?
Sheâd never even kissed before.
And yet, when his lips had barely brushed the skin next to her mouth, something inside of her had yearned for more.
He must think she was some sort of wanton woman. There wasnât anything further from the truth.
âOhâ¦â Rosalina covered her face with her hands. âHow embarrassing!â
She could well imagine how stilted things would be between them now.
Marco had been so kind and fun tonight. Mellow. Now sheâd probably resurrected Mad Marco again.
âWhat have I done?â
Since she wasnât tired anymore, Rosalina decided a couple hours in Godâs Word was in order. Flipping the light switch off to the bathroom, she padded over to her bed, and cozied up with her Bible.
Proverbs seemed like the perfect place to read. Where she could soak up some wisdom. And learn all aboutâahemâsilly women and how not to act versus the priceless virtuous woman Rosalina strove to be.
Apparently, she needed a reminder.
Then again, didnât God create love and romance? The attraction between a man and woman? There was nothing wrong about that.
Now if she let the fire inside take her too far, then there would be trouble. She knew where the line was drawn that if she crossed over would land her in sin. By Godâs grace, though, she would not cross it.
Didnât want to cross it.
Of that she was resolved.
Rosalina grabbed the notebook she always kept on her nightstand and decided she would make a list of dating doâs and donâts that she would glean from her study of Proverbs.
Then she would know how to proceed and conduct herself as this datingâdefinitely, no longer charadeâproceeded.
If the way Marco had responded was any indication, Rosalina had an inkling he would agree. She shivered at the memory of his hands on her waist. The way he first tried to push her away, then gave in and kissed her back, seeming to explore and make sense of what was going on between them.
She wondered what his thoughts were tonight. Was she on his mind? Or had he fallen asleep before his head hit the pillow? It seemed impossible to leave a kiss like that unaffected.
