Chapter 6

Eve stepped into the restaurant that Donna had taken her, and she was immediately blown away. To say that the restaurant looked amazing would be an understatement. It looked charming, magical even.

The overhead lights were luminous, which brought out a calm and romantic feeling, just like Donna’s office space. The floor was linoleum and shiny, which reflected the luminous light perfectly.

The tables were arranged in the most romantic setting, and on each table, there was a candle placed on top of it to bring out the romantic feeling.

“This is beautiful,” she said to Donna as she led her to their table, which happened to be secluded and in an intimate part of the restaurant.

“Thank you. I have something about luminous lighting I guess,” Donna said as she pulled Eve’s chair for her.

“You mean to say this restaurant is yours?” Eve asked, taken aback.

“Yeah.”

“Wow,” Eve exclaimed out loud, and looked around, really taking in all the aesthetic of the restaurant.

She was about to comment on how beautiful the restaurant was again, but the chef approached their table and asked what they wanted to have.

Donna looked over at Eve, giving her all the power to decide what she wanted to eat. After looking at the menu and finding that she didn’t recognize anything though, Eve asked Donna to order whatever was best.

Donna smiled, and whispered something in the chef’s ear. The chef smiled and walked away.

“What did you order?” Eve asked, genuinely intrigued.

“You’ll see, “Donna replied.

They sat for a second in silence, then Donna broke the silence.

“I’m curious about you, tell me about yourself,” Donna leaned forward in her seat.

“Um, what do you want to know?”

“Anything. Like, what are your dreams in life?”

“I guess I’ve always wanted to be a business woman. But I made some wrong choices in my youth and now I feel like I have wasted that chance.”

“What kind of choices?”

“Um, mostly about love. Faith’s dad, he was not the nicest person. I made some awful choices because of him. But, I don’t want to bore you with my sob stories. Tell me, how come such a rich person like you is so humble,” Eve said because it had been bugging her all night.

She had always assumed that all rich people were snobs, but here she was sitting across one, and she was the most humble person she had ever met.

Donna chuckled. She was about to answer, but then the chef came back with a bottle of wine. From the looks of it, this was the most expensive bottle of wine Eve would ever taste in her life.

“I thought we could start off with a bottle of red wine. I hope you don’t mind, “Donna said as she poured Eve a glass of the wine.

“Not at all,” Eve replied.

After pouring the glass of wine for Eve, Donna poured one for herself too. Then she raised her glass in the air.

“I want to make a toast,” she said.

“Yes? To what?” Eve asked.

“To us. You have completely taken my breath away, Eve.
