We made it to Toctol just before the sun had set. It took us longer than we would have wanted because we were worried about me shifting, and Lilura running at an inhuman speed being that close to the hunters.

Though it was almost night, Toctol was bustling and full of light and people. It wasn’t something that we had expected. Lilura and I looked at each other and smiled.

Looking around, everyone here looked happy, and there was a steady flow of business going between all the buildings and storefront stalls. Lilura leaned down to talk with me and said, “We should see if the Inn has any open rooms to set our things down then we can come down and check out some of the stalls. I would like to sell some more of the jewelry that we brought with us and maybe get you some warmer clothes and a jacket for me.”

I nodded, “I would love that because I am freezing.” I said, smiling and looking up at her.

She took my hand in hers and pulled me through the crowd until we came upon a large building with a large, slanted sign that said “The Silverline Inn” and we made our way inside.

It was just as busy inside as it was outside, there was a side room that was packed full of people who seemed to be drinking warm tea, eating cookies, and talking while a large fire burned in the fireplace.

We were looking in the room when a small woman beside us spoke up, “May I help you ladies?” she asked, and we whipped our heads toward her.

She was shorter than me, and my wolf picked up on something slightly different about her. Lilura smiled down at her, “Hi, we’re passing through, looking to do some shopping here in your beautiful city. We were wondering if you had a room available?” she asked.

I looked at her and wondered if she picked up on what I had picked up on. I turned back to the small woman and she eyed the two of us for a quick moment, then smiled, “Welcome to our lovely town. I am Arigray, but you can call me Ari, and I own the Inn. We do have a few rooms open, would you like a single bed or a double?”

I smiled at Ari, “A single bed, please. I am Raya, and this is Lara,” I decided to choose different names than we had been using so that hopefully no one could trace our steps. “We were surprised to see the town so busy after dark. The last place we went to had a curfew and we couldn’t even leave our rooms after dark.” I said, wondering if any of Eleanor’s views had made their way here.

She burst into laughter, and Lilura and I looked at each other with looks of confusion. Once she calmed down, she looked back at us and said, “You must have come from Cairon. That Eleanor is as wild as a boar.
