Technically, this was not a lie. I did need to prep for that meeting. I just didn’t care about the situation enough to end my time with Danny if not for the tightening in my chest right now.

But I should prep. Especially since it was probably my fault the photos of Audrey kissing that guy in the back of a bar had even been taken. I’d been on the phone when Audrey disappeared and by the time I’d found her, it was clear they’d been there for a while.

If Danny was bothered by my abrupt end to the conversation, he didn’t let on.
