THE END
Bonus Short Story: SHe
Let me start this story off by telling you about Tim Roberts. A man that hummed a sad tune wherever he walked. A man who fought hard against a normal form of routine. A man who kept his love buried in a deep grave inside of his heart. A man who wore a black suit, and black fedora almost every single dayâno matter what the thermometer read. A man who wore his brown hair long, tied up neat and tight in a ponytail. A man who kept his face clean-shaven. A man who had two holsters on each hip, and both held loaded silver colt 45âs.
Now, I digress, I hate to start a story out like this, but I had to just place this character in your mind before the words start to dance. Let me now tell you the story of how Tim Roberts fell into the clutches of a monster named âSHe.â
1
It had been one of those long hot summers in the city of Tampa Bay, and it was now moving on into winter in that part of the world. Well, whatever stood for winter in a humid subtropical climate. Something was lurking inside the shadows of the city killing only women. It didnât matter what type of woman it killed, good, bad, or in between. It didnât discriminate.
2
Sara Railz stepped off the bus, and moved with a somber quiet ease up to the door that led into her apartment. It was a simple door, red with gold trim.
She held her key up to the lock, using the street lamp as her light.
She paused.
A noise nearby.
Sara turned towards it, brown eyes studying the shadows, searching the dark for any signs of movement.
Seeing nothing, she turned back to her door.
âSilly girl canât even come home from work without worrying about someone or something jumping out at you,â she replied, as she pushed the key into the lock.
She unlocked the door, and slid inside to her safe and comfy home.
In the shadows, where Sara had looked moments ago, something made a slight growl.
It was time for estrogen.
3
Sara undressed in the darkness of her bedroom, and stood there naked for a moment.
A car rushing by outside caught her attention.
She walked over to the window, and looked out onto the street, not shy at all about anyone seeing her the way she was.
There was a streetlight to the left, casting odd angles of light into the room, and a full moon above in the dark black sky. She could see a few palm trees blowing nearby, and a now-empty, deserted street. She felt like she was the only one still left alive on this planet at this hour of the night.
âAnother late shift. This job is going to kill you before you have a chance to die of natural causes,â she replied to herself, and then made her way into the bathroom.
The noise Sara had heard moments ago, the one with the hungry growl, moved up to Saraâs apartment door.
