CHAPTER 6

Nolan leaned against his master’s legs and drifted. His whole body still throbbed with pain and pleasure. He felt languid and sated. It had been an incredible experience but he was glad he was now allowed to just cuddle against Donovan’s side. He would have preferred if they’d been at home instead of at the club. Yet, he was beginning to feel a bit more at ease with the public setting. He just kept repeating Donovan’s words in his mind. Concentrating on Donovan and Donovan alone made everything easier. It made it possible for him to blend out the others and their reactions.

He stirred slightly when someone joined them at their table. His cracked one eye open and was surprised to see the master they’d watched earlier in the medical room and his sub join them. He met the curious gaze of the sub but then let his eyes drift close again while he leaned more firmly against his master’s legs and enjoyed the way Donovan’s fingers massaged his skull. He loved getting petted.

Nolan was aware of the men talking but paid no attention to their words until something they said made him open his eyes. Meeting his master’s eyes, he smiled at the gentle words of care that Donovan was offering him. It was good to know that he’d pleased Donovan.

When Donovan cupped his face and caressed his lower lip with his thumb, Nolan hummed softly. He parted his lips and was rewarded with his master’s thumb. He closed his lips around the digit and started to suck on it, adding a bit of tongue.

“Are you willing to loan him out?”

Nolan tensed when he heard the question. He kept all of his attention on his master and tried to hide his own reaction to that question. He knew Donovan enjoyed watching him with others and he’d accepted that fact. But being loaned out? Given to another man without Donovan present and directing everything? That sounded like something he wasn’t going to like. But he would submit and do his best if that was what Donovan wanted.

Donovan was still watching him and Nolan had the feeling that his master knew exactly what was going through his mind.

Finally, without looking away from Nolan, Donovan shook his head. “Not at the moment. No. He’s still in training.”

Relief swept through Nolan. Donovan’s refusal eased something deep inside him. He briefly grazed Donovan’s thumb with his teeth as a sign that he’d heard Donovan’s refusal and was grateful. With a smile, Donovan pulled his thumb free and ran his hand through Nolan’s curls, pushing his head back down against Donovan’s knee. With a deep sigh, Nolan complied.

Once again, he allowed himself to drift but after a while his body stirred and let him know that he needed to take care of some business. Usually, back at home, that wouldn’t be much of a problem but he had no idea how Donovan wanted to handle things while they were at the club.

He turned his head slightly and glanced up at Donovan, hoping to get his attention.
