Business analysis is the most common use of Microsoft Excel in the workplace. Business analysis is simply the process of utilizing data to inform decision-making processes. Businesses naturally collect data in the course of their daily operations, which may include information on product sales, website traffic, expenditure on supplies, insurance claims, and other factors. Essentially, business analysis is the process of transforming data into information that is valuable to those in charge of running a company. For example, you might create a report on profitability based on the day of the week that is being used. If a company consistently loses money on Sundays, it is information that management might use to make a choice (such as closing on Sundays).
