4 Applications of Network Centralities as an Evaluation Index

In this section, I show two applications of the proposed evaluation index. One is “evaluation of researchers selected for funding programs”, and the other one is “search of young promising researchers”.

4.1 Evaluation of Researchers Selected for Funding Programs

We analyzed the centralities of co-author networks constructed from literatures in biology field of JSTPlus [8]. As the result, centralities of “Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellows”, who are selected by JSPS as promising researchers, are found transiting significantly in logit model. In addition to the centralities of JSPS Research Fellow, as shown in Fig. 3, centralities of “PRESTO” researchers and “CREST” researchers, who are both selected as excellent researchers by JST, are also rapidly growing after the selection by each grant program, while they are showing different transitions from each other before the selection.
