5.2.2 OpenWRT

OpenWRT is the operating system used with the most advanced model of the Arduino, i.e. the Arduino Yun. The OpenWRT Web Site (2015) defines the OS as a highly extensible GNU/Linux distribution for embedded devices. The main focus of the OS is wireless routers. OpenWRT is free to use and open source and the system is developed as a result of a community-driven effort. Apart from the wireless routers that the OS is developed for and the Arduino Yun SBC, a 3D printing project (Doodle3D) uses OpenWRT as the OS of their environment.
