Chapter Six

Standing outside her room, I gave myself a moment to collect my thoughts and lock down my excitement. Camila had been calling for me nonstop, begging for me to come save her. As if my presence were somehow the cure for the insanity eating away at her mind. Now it was time to give her what she wanted.

The door creaked as it opened, my mouth dry as I took in the delicate sight of her thin legs lying over the comforter. My shirt was pushed up her hips, her panties visible and inviting. No one had bothered to come back to release her other arm since Santiago fucked with her. They knew this room was off-limits, only entering at my command—except, of course, for Santiago.

Her eyes went round, her lashes fluttering as though she couldn’t tell if I was real or not. That vacant look was back, speaking to her continued fight against the effects the solitude was having on her.

“He shouldn’t have touched you.” I stepped farther into the room, enjoying how she pushed her back into the wall. “I apologize for that.” I dropped a bag on the bed, motioning at the dress that was inside. “Please join me for dinner.”

Silence made weak people uneasy while monsters like me thrived in the discomfort it created. She looked at me skeptically and I wanted to laugh. She went from holding on to her crown, her grip tightened in challenge as she rode my dick like I owed her something, to barely able to grasp her reality, let alone understand the full extent of what was to come.

We’d only just begun.

“Shower and then dress.”

She flinched when I stepped next to the bed, whimpering when I unlocked her wrists.

“I’m looking forward to it.” The door closed behind me and the audible click of the lock preceded my grin. I crossed the space to my office, shaking the mouse for the monitors to come to life. She’d barely moved, staring at the door as if a monster would come back through. If only the monster I’d wanted to be had actually manifested…

It wasn’t that I was treading lightly around her. I was enjoying her unease, the uncertainty that came with my rapid change in moods. It kept her unraveling as she craved one version of me, but was petrified of getting the other. My palms itched, wanting to punish her taut flesh for all her sins.

Her hands rubbed her wrists, as her eyes flicked back and forth between the dress and the door. Clear indecision rippled across her face. Should she shower and dress for me? Or fight back? The inner cartel queen wanted to rip the fabric to shreds and spit on it. But it had been months since she was her former self. I wasn’t a fool by any means. I knew the queen was there, under the surface. A few more damaging attacks and she’d be forced to rear her crowned head.

“It’s a game,” she muttered, so low I almost missed it.
