Emery

As expected, I had more time to myself in the tub this time. I washed my hair and body multiple times, drained the tub and refilled it, showered completely, and repeated the process until I was dragged out of there like last time.

I was given a single shirt, my various wounds were checked over, I chugged a bottle of water, which was nowhere near enough for me, but my stomach couldn’t handle any more before I was tossed out onto the course again.

My fucked up paintball gun was shoved into my arms along with my goggles which had been cleaned. Thib was the one who got me, but Specs and Kam were waiting outside, ready for round three.

Little did they know, I didn’t plan on losing another round. It was my turn to inflict pain.

I didn’t say anything, knowing the drill. No arguments or snarky comments left my lips as I walked into the course and weaved around while the clock ticked down.

They were chatting as usual, joking about who they thought would shoot me next and what they would do to me. I blocked them out, focusing on what I needed to do to prevent it.

I went left, the opposite of what I had done in previous rounds. The area all looked the same, and I knew we were surrounded by tall fences with one way in and out. I wasn’t convinced a gate or something wasn’t lurking around, but it would be locked and shut tight. For right now, I only had the information I personally collected to trust.

That meant I had two options. I could either swing around to the front and come up behind them, giving me a perfect shot, or I could do the same but wait for them to wander off before I tried to run for it.

I knew what Thib said, but how much of it had been true? How many traps were really out there, and could I avoid them? But the police…

As I weighed my options and avoided leaving a trail, I wound back, keeping myself as silent as possible as I snuck up on them. The course was lit up still thanks to the beaming lights. It was the middle of the night with no moon to be seen and clouds littering the sky. I could almost see my breath with how cold I was, and I screamed at them internally for only giving me a shirt to wear out here.

They probably thought this would deter me from letting the round go on too long, and they were right but for completely different reasons. They also probably thought this would deter me from escaping. That was indeed a factor in why I decided to shoot one of them instead so I would finally have the upper hand over one of them. I wanted to see how far they would let me go before ending this fuck fest.

I slid behind the wall two buildings down from them. I could hear them clearly enough from here as I waited for the automated voice to sound off.
