Chapter Fifteen
Courtney
Maybe Sienna is the last person I should involve in this when as of now, I only have her word and my helpless infatuation for the woman. Then again, I donât know who else to call, to trust. My parents, who live on the other side of the country, canât do anything about this situation. I vowed not to involve Jade in anything dangerous. Will might reconsider giving me a job if he knows the whole truth. He already graciously agreed to postpone for a day.
Iâm running out of options. Silly of me to think they could let me start over here with Oliver. But realistically, what can they do?
I canât think straight. Iâve been up all night, unable to sleep, watching Oliver as if someone was going to sneak into the room and take him from me.
Rory made it very clear that he wants to take both of us home. Thatâs what he says, anyway. I know he wants Oliver above all, and heâs aware that Iâm not going to leave him, at least not freely.
Sienna isnât likely going to change all of it, but Iâm already feeling calmer after hearing her voice. Another point of view, someone telling me that Iâm not going to lose, not again.
I am far past wondering if Rory and Ciara are, if Tommy might have been involved in something illegal. Iâm not ruling out going to the police, though Iâd hardly know what to tell them. I tried to run. It didnât work. Now I have to fight, and Sienna is the best ally I can think of. Also, I need to see her again.
Sienna knocks on my door exactly seventeen minutes after weâve hung up, and she brings two large coffees and a bag of pastries.
âYouâre a lifesaver!â I jump to my feet and kiss her, since Oliver is only just starting to stir. âI didnât dare call room service.â
âGood choice. When I said no one, I meant no one.â
She returns the kiss, but only briefly. Her demeanor is beyond serious, and Iâm beginning to understand that itâs not just because of my own situation.
Sienna puts down breakfast on the coffee table after she has assured herself that the door is locked properly. She even gazes outside the window, but weâre on the tenth floor. I donât think there could be danger from outsideâ¦I canât think about this now.
âCourtney, we need to talk. Thereâs been an incident at one of our resorts. Someone drove a car into the lobby, spray-painted on the walls.â
My hand goes to my mouth.
âWas anybody hurt?â
âNothing too serious. We were lucky, this time, but itâs a damn mess. Courtney, did Rory mention anythingâ¦â
âNo.â The first sip of coffee sits heavy in my stomach now. âHe didnât say anything to me about vandalizing your hotels, and I canât believe you came here to ask me that.â
âCourtney. Please.â A bit of that ice vanishes from her voice, and the woman I thought I knew, was getting to know, is back.
