1. Start with a large wiggly outline of a trunk that will become your focal point.

2. Add the side of another trunk on the left with another arcing wiggly shape. Draw a similar trunk shape to the first that is smaller and inset between the two trunks.

3. Make sloping lines out from the bottom of your trunks to create the ground.

4. Create some gnarled branches coming out of your distant tree trunk by drawing sporadic wiggly lines and adding a few wiggles to your trees in the foreground.

5. Continue to develop your distant tree with lots of wiggly Y-shaped branches coming out of one another. Then, start building your foreground tree branches with thick wiggly lines and narrow ends and a few short branches here and there.
