“I can’t decide,” Trevor said when Jack stepped out of the dressing room wearing the outfit that Trevor had picked out for him. “Either I missed my calling, or you can wear the hell out of a suit.”

It was perfect. Just a hint of hipster, brown corduroy pants and a colorful fitted shirt under a vintage looking purple blazer. They’d found matching shoes as well, blue-suede and brown leather, and all at a steal from the thrift shop.

“It seems a little…” Jack trailed off, frowning at Trevor.

“Color is good!” Trevor assured him, and held up the bow-tie he’d found; the classic kind that had to be tied by hand, a deep scarlet that he figured would look great with the shirt and jacket. “Come here.”

Jack did, and only fidgeted a little as Trevor flipped his collar, tied the bow-tie on, and then turned Jack around to see himself in the mirror.

“It’s not bad,” Jack admitted. He turned a little bit, and looked himself up and down. “I think this might be the most dressed up I’ve been in my life.”

Trevor reached around him to adjust the tie again.

Jack stiffened in the circle of Trevor’s arms.

Maybe Sam was right. Trevor didn’t make a move—not like before—but he took his time, and let his breath graze Jack’s ear.

“Uh… that…” Jack swallowed. “It looks good. Thank you.”

“Looking like that,” Trevor said as he stepped away, watching Jack’s eyes in the mirror, “girls are gonna throw themselves at you. And guys, too. Everyone, just flinging themselves from all corners.”

“Sounds dangerous,” Jack murmured.

“You certainly are,” Trevor muttered, and Jack caught his eyes in the mirror briefly before he looked away.

“It’s almost time,” Jack said. “We should get there so you can change.”

Trevor cleared his throat. “Yeah,” he agreed, and ignored how his mouth had gone dry.

They gathered their things, stopping at the counter to pay for everything that Jack had on, pretty much. For a thrift store, it was just a little steep—but not more than Trevor could afford. His own rented tux was in the car, so they packed themselves into it again, and watched the clock as they sped across town.

All the way there, Trevor’s eyes were drawn to Jack in the passenger seat. Dangerous was the word. Twice he nearly swerved off the road.
