I lower my tongue to my fist again, and she looks at me like she’s fondly remembering her “dream.” Remembering me. I see the glint of recognition all over her face as my tongue rides along my skin. She remembers what it felt like to have my tongue on her. There’s no denying it.

She isn’t the only one who’s been thinking about it. Ever since yesterday, I’ve been unable to think of anything else. She’s completely consumed me. I tried to paint and get on with work, but I couldn’t keep my straight lines going. My mind was in too many places, mostly inside her. So I came back. I wanted to return her squirrel, that’s all, but seeing someone trying to steal what has become mine—in my mind, at least—made me absolutely homicidal again. I imagined breaking his skull against his car before she told me to stop. Before she tethered me to reality once again.

She’s steps into me now. She’s so close. Her breath rolls against mine as she looks into my face with a perfect pout on her lips. She wants me to kiss her. I may be pretty bad with women, but I can tell that much. Now she’s leaning in, closing the gap.

Fuck it.

I pull her into me and kiss her. Hard. Passionately. When I draw her lip into my mouth and bite down on that supple skin, she gasps at the pain. A look crosses her face, but I can’t decipher its meaning. Anger and lust fight for dominance in her features, but neither can win when they’re both overshadowed by intense confusion. I stand there with her mouth close to mine as she looks at me as if she either wants to lean in and kiss me again or pull back her fist and deck me between the eyes.

I need to come clean. She’s confused because that bite on her lip reminds her of what I did last night. Of what I did in the vision she believes is a dream. This isn’t fair to her. I put space between us before I confess, though, because I haven’t forgotten what her knee can do.

“Are you remembering a dream last night?” I ask.

Her cheeks flush, and her eyes search mine. “How do you know?”

I take another step back before continuing. “Because it wasn’t a dream.”

Her mouth drops open. Her head shakes. Fear dances in her pale eyes before her expression flattens. “I don’t believe you. I—”

I grab her arm and pull her to the mirror. I grip her lower lip and pull it down, forcing her to confront proof that last night wasn’t a dream. My teeth marks stare back at her.

“You had sex with me while I was asleep?” she says.

I shrug. “When you were drugged. You were somewhat awake when you came on my face.”

She turns to face me, then her hand draws back and collides with my cheek before I can move out of the way. The sound ricochets off the shower stalls and comes back to me.
