Cade didn’t immediately pull away or push my arm off him, which made my soul sing. He wasn’t mad at me like I’d thought.

After Caleb called, it felt like the room was plunged into ice – and not just because of all the snow outside. It was like he didn’t want to know me at that moment. “Not just that,” I said, hedging on the side of being honest. It was pretty much my default setting anyway. “I want to touch you. I want to get you off again.”

“Why?”

I hummed a sound or vibration that apparently made Cade squirm a little against me. My dick got even harder in my pants as he did so, rubbing himself against me.

“Can you feel that?” I asked, my voice coming out as little more than a growl.

“Yes,” Cade said, his own voice a little husky.

“That’s why,” I told him. I had a hunch. I slid my hand down over his stomach, searching, and found what I was looking for. His dick was rock-hard too, the heat of it blazing through his thin sleeping pants as the shape filled my palm. Cade groaned, long and low in his throat. It sounded like he was giving in.

Like he was accepting the inevitable.
