Iâm very excited to go wherever you want to go.
There is no shortage of surprises with Willow.
First, in her room, knowing I watched as she got herself off. Then when she admitted that she likes knowing that I watch her. And now for her to ask me where I want to go on a date?
It was something so small, so simple, yet it had rocked my world. I had seen it happen to people in conversations over and over again. I had done it to people myself, but I was shocked that this was the first time it was happening to me.
I had never expected her to be so curious about me to the point where she actually wanted to know what I liked and what I wanted to do.
If Iâm being honest, it caused me to panic⦠and I donât panic.
My whole life, I had been brought up to be a perfect heir. I went through rigorous schooling among people who now lead the top companies in the world. Some of them even rule countries. Iâve stolen money, lots of it.
I kill people, for fuckâs sake.
I donât panic. I have never panicked.
But the thought of bringing Willow to a place that I actually wanted to go to had caused more panic than I had felt in my life. Shadowed by some of the stuff I had to deal with for Mother, but that was completely different. It didnât help that there was only one place that I could bring her because there was only one place that I wanted to go.
This wouldnât cause Willow to get to know me. This would cause her to actually see me. See the thing that kept me floating throughout the years when I had nothing else.
I skipped class on Thursday so that I could be at Willowâs house before she came home. After all, this was a date and I had a certain standard for myself. But Willow wasnât just any other date. I had once told her that I would do anything to keep her, and I meant it.
Her keys jingled at the doorway and a burst of excitement ran through me. As soon as she opened the door, she paused.
âDinnerâs getting cold,â I called. Her footsteps were hurried as she walked into the apartment and peered into the kitchen.
I finished dinner not long ago but had already cleaned the pans and had two plates set aside for us. The dining room table was set with utensils and a glass of white wine for her. I wouldnât be drinking, at least not yet. I had to keep a clear mind for later.
Though the promise of the relaxation the wine offered me was tempting.
I couldnât do much with the appliances she had at her apartment, as most of them were far too old. The apartments were owned by the university and I doubted they cared too much about updating them every few years. So I settled for a risotto and brought some wine to pair it with.
