Al Hosn pulled the captured Russian Makarov pistol from his holster and had it aimed at the mujahideen's head with one smooth move. Only then did the young man's eyes show fear. Even so, he started to open his mouth defiantly, and only the 9 mm round drilling between his dark eyes stopped him from declaring God's greatness yet again.

Al Hosn's eyes swept the small crowd that had gathered to watch the execution, and he was pleased to see flickers of raw fear on many faces. He didn't care how he got their complete and unquestioning obedience, but he would have it.

"Get this disobedient dog out of here," he said, pointing to the two mujahideens closest to him. *'And hang his body in a tree until it rots. The next man who fails to do as I tell him to will join him there."

As the men jumped to obey, the Afghan leader again scanned each face in front of him. "Any questions?" he asked.

As he expected, there were none.

He turned and walked back to his radio room. The infidels were probing his territory again, and he intended to have their blood this time.
