On this spot, Zekours and Swagger selflessly

gave their lives in the fight for a better future.

We admired the monument for a moment and shed a tear. I walked over to where Zekours had fallen and picked up the sanguinite sword, the only item he had dropped. I held it up to show Emma and Claire.

“What should we do with this? Bury it underneath the memorial?”

Claire shook her head. “No sense in wasting such a weapon. Zekours would be insulted.”

I chuckled. “I guess you’re right. Who wants it?”

“Give it to Emma,” Claire said. “You and I both have great powers. She could use it to even the battlefield.”

“Thank you,” Emma said. She took the sword from me and slashed it through the air a few times. “Wow. Now I know why you like sanguinite so much. Too bad its recipe is cursed.”

I nodded solemnly. “If you’d like, we can free the cursed souls after we defeat the Client.”

“We should,” she said. “But first, we need to figure out how to locate the Client.”

That’s when I had a terrible thought. “I shouldn’t have killed the Rainbow Funga-Cow. She was going to tell us, wasn’t she? She was going to tell us where the Client was.”

My head fell forward into my hands. I shook it. I was such a fool. The Rainbow Funga-Cow had given up. She’d seen the error of her ways. She was going to help us.

“Netherrack!” I shouted. “Why can’t I learn to control my rage?”

“You may be right,” Emma said. “Or, maybe the moment she got her freedom, she would’ve turned on us.”

Claire nodded. “Or maybe she was pretending to be our ally. She might’ve been planning to lead us into a trap. Remember, the Funga-Cow saw us earlier. She and the Client might already have set up an ambush.”

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “Yeah. That’s probably it. It must be it.” I had to believe that in order to stop blaming myself.

“Let’s assume that’s all true,” Emma said. “With the Rainbow Funga-Cow out of the picture, how exactly do we find the Client?”

I stood in silence. I started to pace in a circle. I could feel an idea coming on. Like a word on the tip of my tongue, this idea just needed a moment to—.

“I’ve got it!” I said. “I know exactly where to find him.”

“How?” Claire said.

I chuckled. “Because he’ll be exactly where I would be.”
