A PROPHECY FULFILLED

Deafening thunder echoed through the great hall as Noel sat huddled in the corner. Amara and Aeryth stood shoulder shoulder in front of her, their massive heads sweeping from side to side as they kept watch. She couldn't hear them in her mind, but their constant shifting and movement made it seem as though they were working out a plan.

I wont do it mother. I wont just take Lilith's creature and run. Aeyrth's voice was heated. It was the fifth time her mother had commanded her to take Noel and leave, and it was the fifth time she had refused.

You have to. You know what Ghost saw. The Ruby Queen's voice was calm as she tried to reason with her offspring.

She doesnt matter to me. The Sapphire dragon shot back, risking a glance over her shoulder to see the human huddling behind her. Anything could kill that one.

Aeyrth.... Amara's voice held more warning now, but her command was cut-off as a roar vibrated down the hallway.

Both dragon's snapped to attention, their heads down and jaws open. Balls of flame rolled over their tongues that were released the moment the first wave of attackers set foot in the hall. Shrieks filled the air as hide sizzled from the heat. Three Lightning dragon's backed away, only to have four more take their place.

Where is she? One hissed before getting hit in the chest with a flame strike from Amara.

Give her to us! Another screamed, throwing herself at the larger pair of Dragons. She was instantly vaporized but another two followed her. For every Dragon that fell, another few took their place until the room was overrun with them.

Run! To my den! Now! Noel heard Amara scream in her mind, the sound almost shattering her thoughts and giving her an instant headache. She scrambled to her feet, slipping twice before trying to run the length of the room. She had almost made it when a bolt of lightning cut her off, shattering the rock floor in front of her. She screamed, almost falling on her ass as she attempted to turn around. With wide eyes she surveyed her options, which seemed like nothing.

There were bodies everywhere - slim, grey, and unmoving. Amara and Aeryth seemed to be winning, but both dragon's were already painted in electrical burns and bleeding from bites and wounds. What the legless Lightning Dragons lost in claws, they made for with razor sharp tails. They used them to spin and whip, snapping them across any body part of the Fire Dragon's that they could reach and almost always drawing blood. She heard Ghosts voice in her head, the same voice she had nightmares about almost nightly - Death.

A loud shriek sounded over the battlefield, causing every Lightning Dragon near the door to turn. What they found was a giant black ball of fury and fire racing towards them.

Sorsha barreled into the fray, biting and flaming any dragon foolish enough to get in her way while screaming a wordless battle cry.
