When I arrived home, James was waiting for me as usual. When he saw my face, he knew that my conversation with Victor hadn’t gone as I hoped it would. He sighed heavily as he took my coat.

“That well, huh?”

“Whatever gave you that impression?” The question dripping with derisive sarcasm. “I’m sorry, James. No, it didn't. He doesn't see what I see. He doesn't feel what I feel. How could he?"

“Well, don’t say that I haven’t warned you. You know you were getting too close to Spence. I’ll admit, I enjoyed our time together, but it has to be this way, you know that.”

“And why does it, huh? Just because Victor says so? Just because he made me doesn’t mean that he gets to control my life. I can make my own decisions. I’m not a child or a new vampire anymore. He thinks I’m just going to make Spencer and turn him loose.”

“Regina, I don’t think he thinks that at all. Even though I wasn’t around that long ago, I remember the conversations about Edward. Maybe he just doesn’t want that to happen to you again.”

“Now you sound like Vic. Spencer isn’t Edward, James. It wouldn’t be like that.”

"But how do you know, for sure, Regina? Maybe Victor has a point. Maybe this thing with Spencer has gone too far. Maybe you should take some time and some space. Take a vacation, you deserve that."

"I don't want a vacation, I want him. Don't you see? He's different. I think I'm in love with him, James. I don't want to give him up, and I don't want space."

“Regina, I know that it seems-”

"No, you don't. I thought you would take my side, James. You should do anything to make me happy. He makes me happy. I'm going to turn him."

“Regina-”

“No! I’m tired of denying that part of myself. I know you would be that for me, but it’s not what you want. I won’t make you do that, just to make me happy. I don’t have to with Spence. He willingly gives me what I need, what I crave.”

“I can’t change your mind, can I?”

“No, but you can help me. Please do this for me, James. I could make you but I’ve never had to and I never want to. Please help me.”

"Alright. If you are sure this is what you want, and you are absolutely sure this time will be different, then I'll help you in any way that I can."

“Thank you, James. That means the world to me.”

“I’m here to serve you, for as long as you will have me.”

“When do you want to-”

“Tonight!”

“Regina-”

“It has to be tonight. Victor wants me to wipe his memory tonight. I’ll get him here, and I’ll explain everything, and then I’ll turn him. Once it’s done, it’s done. Vic will see exactly what I tried to tell him. Spencer is different. I knew that from our first night together. We will be happy, all of us.”

“Well, I had plans tonight, but I’ll cancel.
