4.9 Summary

Interactions are the basic force to drive the evolution of spaces. Interactions emerge and develop languages. Symbiotic relations among cyberspace, physical space and social space are built through interactions in a multi-dimensional space. The structure of social space co-evolves with the structure of cyberspace. Structural mapping between spaces coordinates the evolution of different spaces toward efficient and sustainable development of cyber-physical-social space. As a general language, the semantic link network is capable of building symbiosis among things in Cyber-Physical Society to interact with each other and evolve according to some symbiotic principles in a multi-dimensional space. Different characteristics of cyberspace, physical space and social space enable the semantic link network to support intuitive thinking and commonsense reasoning in cyber-physical-social space.

Symbiosis is a driving force that co-evolves different spaces with coordinating prominent transformation of their patterns. The principle of symbiotic co-evolution interprets the relation between the evolution pattern on one network and the evolution pattern on another network.

The least effort is a principle specific to one dimension. The most effort is a principle specific to another dimension. The moderate effort is a principle of making moderate efforts in a multi-dimensional space, which provides the strategy for balancing efforts at different dimensions of cyber-physical-social space.

This work develops the theory of semantic link network model (Zhuge 2009) and multi-dimensional methodology (Zhuge 2008, 2012, 2016).
