You can take this same principle of time management into your workplace by literally bringing a kitchen timer with you to the library. While some people are comfortable with a kitchen timer on their desk, others will be happy to know that technology has created some digital tools that serve the same timer function.

Tomighty

Tomighty (www.tomighty.org) is a timer that you install on your computer. It runs in the system tray. You start the timer and it tracks 25 minutes, dinging to let you know when you should take a break. It then tracks the break (you tell it whether you are taking a short break or a long break). The timer does have flexibility. You can pause the timer if something breaks your 25-minute focus. You can also end your break early and start a new 25-minute section.
