Applications of C++ Programming
C++ has found applications in almost every application domain. With that said, some of the atypical uses of C++ include device drivers or any software that requires dealing with hardware on a direct, one-to-one basis. Besides this, the user interfaces of most operating systems including that of Macintosh and Windows have been written in C++.
Prerequisites for Learning C++
In order to create, compile and run C++ programs, you need two tools. Firstly, you need a text editor. This shall be used for creating C++ code file, which are typically saved with the extension .cpp. If you are a Windows user, you can stick to Notepad, else you may try EMACS or vi/vim.
Once you have your C++ code files ready, you need to compile them for execution. For this, you need a C++ compiler. The use of GNU C/C++ compiler is highly recommended as it is completely based on the ANSI standard of C++. So, if you are following the ANSI standard, you will not see unnecessary warning or unwarranted errors.
