Figure 6-22: A franchise store was supplied.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when diving into the world of franchises:
Not all neighbors are open to franchises. Some want to keep all their precious land to themselves, which is okay. You may choose to do the same.
Not all neighbors will accept your franchise. Some of your neighbors may have a specific neighbor in mind when they set up an empty franchise plot. Others may prefer to have a business that provides higher returns. Just give yourself a little time to level up more and try again later.
Your franchise host can remove your store at any time without notice to you. Although it’s polite for a franchise host to notify the franchise owner that he’s going to reclaim his land, not all neighbors do that. You may wake up one day and find you no longer have one of your beloved Shoe Store franchises. If you’re lucky, the host will post a message on your Wall notifying you of the intent to reclaim the land so you can at least claim your consolation prize of 50 City Coins. Either way, don’t take offense to it. It’s his prerogative to use his land how he wants, and one day you may choose to do the same.
Some neighbors never come back to supply their franchises. This means you’re stuck supplying those businesses, which ruins most of the point of accepting a franchise. You can choose to keep that store and treat it as your own, accepting that you’ll never get that freebie restock from them ever again, or you can bulldoze their franchise to reclaim that land for yourself or a neighbor who will be more engaged.
Posting Items and Bonuses to a Facebook News Feed
While playing CityVille, you have many opportunities to post a message on your Facebook Wall. These news posts can be everything from letting your neighbors know you visited their city to accepting free items to requests for helping staff community buildings.
These opportunities are usually indicated with a Share button or something similar in a pop-up notification window as you play. Clicking this button brings up the Wall publishing box, as shown in Figure 6-23.
