Macleod continued to observe the men through the glass. Delafury usually dwarfed all those around him, but not this time. Lochran though a big man, was shorter by six inches and lighter by three stone or more, but there was no mistaking the power of the Irishman, as he was lean and muscular and, surprisingly for such a man, he walked lightly. Macleod judged that in a fight between the two men, Lochran might be able to out-manoeuvre Delafury at first â though the outcome would be inevitable.
Lochran sat down opposite Delafury. Without any indication, the prisoner threw himself up and forward, plunging his head straight through the steel mesh and ripping chunks of skin from his face.
Lochran remained still.
âWell, well, what have we here?â said the handcuffed man, laughing maniacally with his head protruding through the mangled steel mesh. âYou didnât even flinch.â Delafury squinted as he surveyed his target. âBut, one thing has changed; your eyes are no longer grey-green but are pure crystal-blue. Do you have ice in your veins?â
Lochran icy-eyes locked on the fire in the other manâs eyes. âI expected some kind of show. Your persona is based on intimidation, so you wanted to make a quick impression.â
âYour eyes tell me I did,â sneered Delafury, before breaking into the broadest of grins.
âYouâre the one with the lacerated face,â replied Lochran nonchalantly, as strands of blood and saliva coiled around each other as they dripped from Delafuryâs face onto the interview table.
âIâm looking forward to scaring the fucking life out of you,â spat the handcuffed man.
âIâm sure you will; but, moving on, tell me about the Russian who purchased Benzedrine from you recently.â
The other man laughed even louder as he pulled his head back out of the jagged wires, ripping more lumps of bloodied skin from his face as he did so.
Delafury reclined in the chair. âIâve waited a long time for this moment, Irishman. I have a message for your Jew whore of a mother. Tell her that The Alpha Wolves have risen from the flames.â
Lochran struggled to hide his surprise. âAnd what part do you play in this resurrection?â
âYou will learn that only when it is too late. I also have a message for you. With your father dead and your Jew whore of a mother soon to join him, I will reap the vengeance of The Alpha Wolves on their only child. But before I do.â
Delafury swung his feet up against the lip of the table and launched himself backwards. As he flung his legs up, he bent his knees and flipped his cuffed hands over his size fourteen boots. Lochran watched in silence.
Delafury leapt forward and smashed his fists through the remains of the broken wire mesh. He opened his bloodied hands up only inches from Lochranâs face, as the steel handcuffs caught in the tangled broken mesh. Delafury roared with laughter, as he arched his back and raised his head like a wolf howling. He released an almighty gasp as he
