It is especially useful to be able to chunk up and chunk down when you need to improve communication. When talking to someone using bigger chunks, you can ask the question, ‘What, specifically?’ to get more details. When talking to someone using smaller chunks, you can ask, ‘What is the intention of this?’ or ‘What is this an example of?’ to encourage larger chunks. When you think about it, senior managers are in their roles because of their ability to operate at all levels of the hierarchy. So the more flexible you can become the more earning potential is available to you.
