Chapter 16

Athena~

Two hours later, I was home, showered, dressed in a t-shirt and yoga pants, my fluffy socks quietly moving me around the house, and I felt exhausted as hell.

Jesus Christ.

If it wasn’t enough that I’ve been an emotional and mental disaster since Friday, letting Crew take me in that storage room had been incredible but still exhausting as hell.

After walking out of that room, Crew had walked me to Levi’s class and had created more talk by demanding that Mr. Lisman excuse Levi from class. Unsure of what was going on, Levi had immediately complied when he’d seen me standing in the doorway, and not against my will. As soon as Levi had been excused, neither of us had uttered a word as Crew had instructed him to take me home and stay there for the rest of the day.

To his credit, Levi hadn’t bombarded me with questions, and had even given me space to take my shower in peace. However, that also could have been because Crew had kissed my forehead before sending us on our way, and I had let him. I had no doubt that Levi had to be super confused right about now, and why wouldn’t he be? Hell, I was confused.

Walking into the game room, I saw Levi with his headset on, playing whatever combat game that he liked, speaking into his mic. However, as soon as he saw me, he announced his intentions to the other players, then logged off the game.

Sitting back, Levi got comfortable on the couch, making room for me. Those blue eyes of his regarded me carefully, but there was no judgement in them. There was no condescension, no wariness, no anger, no betrayal, no anything. Just blanket expectancy of an explanation for earlier.

Pulling my feet underneath my ass, I got comfortable on the couch before saying, “This is going to sound incredible, but it was all just a horrible, horrible misunderstanding.”

His brows jumped. “Misunderstanding?”

“Crew thought I left him,” I started to explain. “Between my short answers, then blocking him so suddenly, he thought I just upped and left him, no explanation needed.”

“And the pictures?”

“His eyes hadn’t been closed in ecstasy like I thought. He’d been passed out, and Daphne had taken advantage of him.” I let out a deep sigh. “She’d only gotten those few pictures in before Delaney saw what she was doing. According to Crew, that’s when things got ugly. Delaney ended up kicking Daphne’s ass before they ended up dragging him out of the party.”

“How do you know that he’s telling the truth?”

I wasn’t offended by the question. Levi didn’t know Crew like I did, and what Levi did know was all bad. All he knew about was how Crew had broken my heart. Of course, that only made me feel like a bigger fool, spotlighting how I should have known better. Crew hadn’t been lying when he said that I should have trusted him better and should have known that he would never cheat on me.
