Convergence dependent sub layer - this sublayer is necessary to raise the level of a traffic network, to the level of a network at each end;
Independent convergence sub layer - this sublayer is for transferring across multiple networks. It controls the operation of sub-networks, packet routing, congestion control, charging, and makes it possible for heterogeneous networks to be interconnected.
The best-known protocols of this layer are IP, IPX / SPX, X.25, APPLETALK, RIP, IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, among others.
The Second Level - Level or Data Link Layer
The data link layer provides reliable data transit through a physical link. This allows the layers above it to be sure that the transmission of data through the physical link is going to be done practically without errors.
This layer deals with physical addressing, access to the environment, error detection, orderly distribution of frames, and flow control. It is one of the most important aspects to review when connecting two computers.
Since it is between layers 1 and 3 as an essential part for the creation of its basic protocols to regulate the shape of the connection between computers, thus determining the passage of frames.
Frame = unit of measurement of the information in this layer, which is nothing more than the segmentation of the data using packets.
It is important to maintain an excellent adaptation to the physical environment (the most used are the UTP cable, twisted pair or 8-wire, and the optical fiber, multimode and single-mode), with the network medium that redirects the connections through a router.
The device that uses the link layer is the Switch. The Switch is responsible for receiving the router data and sending each of these to their respective recipients:
servers.
