CHAPTER 13

RORI

I follow Kaiden down the hallway and through a doorway into a massive bedroom. “This is all yours.” He sets my suitcases down on the gleaming hardwood floor next to a king-sized bed.

My eyes swivel from one side of the large space to the other before stopping at the french doors that offer a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. I look at Kaiden and find him watching me with a smile bending his masculine lips.

“This is too much. It’s too nice for me. I’m happy to take a smaller room.”

I can’t stay here. I’ll never want to leave.

How will I return to my little townhouse bedroom after staying here?

“I’m glad you like it so much.”

I throw my arms out to the side. “It’s gorgeous. This is better than any swanky hotel, not that I’ve stayed in any of those.”

He walks to the left side of the room and opens a door. “This is your bathroom.”

I move over to see for myself. He flips the lightswitch and my mouth hangs open at what I see. It’s quite possibly the perfect bathroom. The glass shower, big enough to accommodate multiple people, is already calling my name. Then there’s the marble countertop that’s long enough for me to take a nap on. Not that I ever would, especially when I’ve got a huge bed covered in a puffy white comforter that looks like it’s made from clouds.

“Kaiden, I don’t know what to say. I’m overwhelmed by your generosity. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome, and you haven’t even seen the best part yet.” His eyebrows rise and fall, showing his enthusiasm. He tips his head, signaling for me to follow him, then makes his way across my new room. Turning the handle, he opens the door for me. “Check it out.”

I step onto the deck and suck in a surprised breath. I knew the view would be beautiful—we are at the beach—but I wasn’t prepared for the overwhelming nature of what I’m looking at.

Being on the third floor provides an unobstructed view of the sand and sea and various seating areas to enjoy it from. And I haven’t even mentioned the ocean sounds. I’m already imagining them soothing me to sleep tonight like a lullaby. Closing my eyes, I drag in a deep breath, taking in the briny scent.

My eyelids open when Kaiden’s arm hooks around me, pulling me to his side. “I don’t think I’ll ever grow accustomed to seeing this view,” he says.

“How could you? It’s…” I struggle to find the words and settle on, “It’s impossible to sum it up in one word.” Turning to him, I slide my arms around his waist and lean my cheek on his chest. “I know you don’t want me to thank you, but I’m going to anyway.” I rest my chin on his sternum, staring up at his striking face. “Thank you for having me here. I think it’s obvious from how Mal acted earlier that he would’ve been a complete nuisance for me to co-exist with, and you’ve spared me from dealing with him.
