“He’s the head of the local hunters guild.”

Azizi frowned, tilting his head slightly. Confusion ran rampant through him. “The what?”

“Your father, the great Kalle Dane, is a legend among my people.

He’s the boogeyman we warn our children about. He’s made it his mission in life to eradicate as many paranormals as possible, and he’s very good at it.”

Seth kept advancing with each word he spit out until he had Azizi pinned against the wall with his arm. The air caught in Azizi’s lungs when a long, sharp-looking claw suddenly extended from Seth’s finger and he pressed it against Azizi’s neck.

“Give me one reason I should let you live.”

Azizi opened and closed his mouth several times. At that moment, he couldn’t think of a single thing he could say that would keep Seth from slicing his throat wide open.

“Do you hate paranormals, too, Azizi?” Seth curled a lip and bared his teeth at Azizi as he leaned closer until they were almost nose to nose.

“N–N–No.”

“Your father does.”

Azizi swallowed hard when Seth’s cold eyes swept over his face, and then he wished he hadn’t when he felt a claw dig into his skin.

“P–Please.”

“He doesn’t just kill us, Azizi. He likes to drag it out, to torture us and see how we tick. And he doesn’t differentiate between men, women, or children. He kills us all, Azizi.”

Azizi whimpered when Seth slammed him into the wall. He was going to die. He could see it in Seth’s eyes. He might not know what Seth was talking about, but Seth’s hatred of his father was going to be taken out in his blood.

“Do you help him, Azizi?” Seth growled. “Is that why you’re with Manu? So you can get in good with the vampires and feed your father information?”
