Worried that Pete might still be hanging around, Sinclair walked Catrina to her car and kept watch as she climbed inside. Only, the vehicle wouldn’t start. Dammit, of all the times, Catrina thought. She’d purchased the car as a reward for her new position on the base but, it was a used car, and though it had been reliable so far, she’d been warned that when the weather grew cold, it might act up. What a perfect time for that to happen, right? Ugh. Can this night get any worse?

Catrina continued to twist the key in the ignition, but it didn’t matter. It didn’t do more than a long annoying whine as the engine tried to turn over. Shaking his head, Sinclair spoke up, “Hey. I can give you a lift.”

Catrina nodded, she didn’t really have a choice.

The ride to Cat’s home was mostly done in silence punctuated by the occasional “Turn here” or “Straight through that light, there,” as Jake drove. The snow had begun to fall again, and the sidewalks and edges of the street were lined with fine white powder. Buildings, their windows dark with sleep, lined either side of the road, and the street lights cast faintly glowing circles onto the ice forming beneath them. Jake steered his truck carefully along the icy roads.

“Were here, you can just pull up along the sidewalk,” Catrina said as they passed alongside a series of apartment buildings. Jake shifted gears and pulled in as close to the entrance of her building as he could. He didn’t want her to have to walk in the snow, she was barely dressed as it was. Her jacket did nothing to keep her legs warm, and the heels she wore might cause her to slip and knowing what a klutz she is… he thought, “One moment.”

Jake climbed out of his truck and walked around to open the door for her. With a smile, she took the hand he offered to help her down. Catching a glimpse of her bare thighs, Jake winced. His pants were becoming uncomfortable as his member throbbed in response, his erection begging to break free of his zipper.

She was gorgeous. Catrina was always well dressed for the office. Jake didn’t think Catrina could get any sexier, but she had, and he craved her now more than ever. Her tiny hand in his palm made his skin tingle with desire and when Catrina slipped on a patch of ice, he caught her about her waist. The jeans she wore only emphasized her thick curves. Catrina Ramirez was a tight little package wrapped just for him, and Jake desperately wanted to open her. Quickly placing Cat on the sidewalk, he stepped back and refused to look at her. After those brief and furious moments in the supply closet, he didn’t want to risk rejection all over it again. It hurt. He didn’t want to hurt like that again.

Catrina stood on the sidewalk, the snow gathering on her dark curls, and smiled, “Would you like to come in?”
