PART 2:

February 2004

In no time, I felt like a member of Faithless, and the guys were great to me. Seth had been right about having a girl on stage to get the men's attention. They went crazy over me and some of my barely there outfits I wore onstage, always accompanied by six-inch heels. The people seemed to love watching us dance together. Our movements were as racy as Seth's lyrics. Combined, we had everyone's attention. Brian was elated. They all were. This was it. Things were about to start happening. There was nothing to stop them now.

The band's leader was—without a doubt—Brian. It was his life's mission to be a rock star. It was why he became a millionaire at eighteen...to fund his dream. Brian helped us out a lot when we were short on rent or lost a job due to missing too much work for rehearsals. Luckily, my job was flexible. Sometimes Brian was a bit of a control freak, plus he had a tendency to push us like a slave driver. We all knew it was for the band, and we were going to make it. So, Brian was leader of his dream, plus our band manager, promoter, and publicist.

Devin and Brian have been best friend since they were little. They had grown up as next-door neighbors. Devin was sort of a geek, yet he was the smartest guy I'd ever met. He ran the pyros, lights, and soundboard at our shows. He was the man behind the curtain. When he wasn't with the band, he was in school. Devin was close to becoming a college graduate. He wanted to, as he said, "Blow shit up for Hollywood."

Martin was the only true musician among the group. He could play every instrument...and he wrote most of the band's music. He came from very musical parents. His mother played cello for the LA Symphony, and his father was renowned pianist, Dominic Chase. Martin was a spoiled rich kid and only child. His bedroom at his parents looked like Carnegie Hall. But, he didn't speak to his parents often because he felt they suffocated him. He went home maybe four times a week to sleep.

Danny was a big, intimidating-looking guy, but he was so sweet. He was the oldest of us, but probably the least mature, and best friends with Martin. They met when Martin tried to sneak past door-bouncer Danny. He told Martin to get a fake ID and he'd let him in...and he made good on his word. In fact, Martin was the one who taught Danny to be a drummer.

Seth was the band's sex god (both on and off the stage), songwriter, singer, rhythm guitarist (in a few songs), and the biggest mystery. Seth never talked of his past. If you tried, he'd leave or change the subject. He never explained his scars. He never answered any of my questions of his life before Faithless. I so wanted to know who he was. What happened to cause all those scars?

Seth was, hands down, a lady-killer.
