When you’re ready to power on the computer and enter the Unified Extensible Firmware (UEFI) BIOS screen to configure your computer settings for the first time, you may be surprised to discover that the SDRAM speed is set to the default value of 1,333 MT/s. The system sets this initial value intentionally to ensure the widest range of compatibility with the different DDR3 RAM speeds and vendors. It’s not until you set the XMP profile for the SDRAM in the BIOS configuration that you will be able to take advantage of the blazingly fast 2,400 MT/s speeds that the Vengeance Pro is capable of (we will touch on this further in ​Overclocking​). But we’re not ready to turn the computer on just yet. We have to add long-term storage and a few other components first.
