Chapter 23

The day couldn’t have been any more special. Dallas floated naked in Greer’s heated swimming pool, lost to the relaxation of the gentle lapping water. The cool breeze tickled its way across his exposed skin in the most decadent of ways. He barely lifted his arm, dragging it under the water to help keep him drifting along the surface. Skinny dipping, such a normal part of life, yet another first he’d experienced at Greer’s prompting.

Dallas treasured all the lack of rules in Greer’s reality. His guy liked to be nude and wanted Dallas nude along with him. Greer had no inhibitions about anything.

The warm water stirred, drawing his attention to Greer’s similar swimming approach. Greer seemed a master at swimming idly with purpose. His determined hand reached out to Dallas’s, threading their fingers together, messing with Dallas’s suspended balance. It was too hard to deny Greer anything, especially when he turned, getting to his feet. The fingers of his free hand traced the ridges and valleys of Dallas’s tight stomach muscles. His dick stirred, plumping, but not really becoming a real hard-on with the sharp chill in the air stunting its growth. Well, that was until Greer added his tongue and mouth, following the path of his fingers. His cock liked that move a lot.

“Another margarita?” Greer murmured, his enchanting gaze scanning Dallas’s face.

Greer’s seductive efforts at romance made the last twenty-four hours a thing of fairy tales. He’d never been so looked after or cared for in his life. He didn’t want it to end, but real life beckoned. “I’ve got to go soon. I should have already left,” he said, making no move to actually leave.

Greer dribbled warm water over Dallas’s exposed skin. He hovered close, holding Dallas, keeping them together in one spot. “Stay the night with me. We can set the alarm and get you up by five. You said you slept better in my bed.”

Dallas watched Greer rise above him. “I’m already shirking my responsibilities.” He’d only briefly told Greer of the interrogation Skye had pummeled him with this afternoon when he’d texted her, asking her to take his class for the evening. “This weekend’s been like a mini vacation. I have a world waiting on me to reengage.”

Greer mashed his lips together. The piercing stare and furrowing brow showed his disapproval of Dallas’s response, but there was something more to the annoyance. “Next weekend, I have a political dinner in Houston and a beach cleanup on Sunday in Guatemala. Come with me? We’ll leave Saturday morning and be home Sunday night.”

The well of laughter manifested into Dallas reacting as if Greer had lost his mind. “I can’t go out with you in public like that. I thought of this as a one-night stand. Besides, I have too much to do—”

Greer reared back, rising out of the water, fully coming to his feet. His face contorted in a range of emotion until it settled on anger, and he let go of Dallas completely, leaving him to flounder in the water.
