Chapter 14

Soup and Primal Bonds

The dreamscape fell away as Asher slowly opened his eyes. A smile bloomed as he saw Elara on her side, looking at him with adoring eyes. Sunlight glowed from behind her, the curtains pulled back from the window.

“Good morning,” the elf said with love in her eyes.

Asher reached over with his arm, touched her waist, and pulled her closer. She moved closer, snuggling close to him again.

The two were silent, enjoying the touch of their naked bodies. Small memories played on in their minds, the previous evening spent chasing and capturing goblins. Laughter echoed as the goblins couldn’t stop their own laughing, even when they were caught. For most, the captured goblins marched back to the house. For Blyss, she was carried over Asher’s shoulder, not putting up much of a fight.

Once inside, baths were prepared. Goblins stripped and climbed in. Elara, Asher, and Nyn proceeded to scrub them down, while Amber prepared supper. Elara gasped when Nuha playfully bit the elf’s arm in protest, but she didn’t penetrate skin. The beautiful elf growled as she splashed the goblin in the face with bath water. Nuha looked like a drowned cat as Elara held her in the water to scrub behind her ears.

Blyss nearly clung to Asher’s arm as he scrubbed her down. She often kissed his arm as he washed her. For the young lord, he knew the goblins could bathe themselves, but this activity brought them all closer. Elara agreed as she helped scrub them down. Only Nyn seemed to not show any emotion as she scrubbed Keefa.

After everyone was cleaned, and clothes were changed, everyone marched down to a small feast. Amber was all smiles as she prepared the dining room with large plates of food. It didn’t take long for everyone to dive in, and eat so much, at the end, they all slumped in their chairs, fat and happy.

Nyn was first to retire, the elf leaving the dining room without a word. Paasha stood up and moved about the table, cleaning up dishes. Blyss looked at Nuha and Keefa. The three of them nodded to each other, before Blyss led them away. Asher thought it was suspicious, but Elara distracted him by feeding him a morsel of food.

Amber yawned and left, heading to her room. Not long after, Elara took Asher’s hand and led him upstairs.

Despite Asher and Elara’s own appetites, the meal had a much more powerful effect. When the couple was naked, they fell into bed, and passed out with the lanterns still on.

This morning, the couple held each other in serene silence.

Asher was first to break the silence.

“You know what the goblins are up to,” he said flatly.

“I don’t know what you mean,” Elara said as she snuggled closer.

“I didn’t know you were a partner in their hidden scheme. You’re not going to tell me?”

Elara smiled with her eyes closed, drinking in her lover’s warmth.

“I promised,” she whispered.

Asher looked down on her as she snuggled to his neck.

“Should I be worried?”

“No,” the mature elf whispered.
