Moments later, Ray lay on his back, a smile of contentment on his face. âWell, that was unexpected,â he said. He was sweating and his underwear was a mess. He was looking up at the big, bearded, hairy-chested man sitting on top of him, who was currently wiping sweat off his forehead.
With a laugh, Barry ran his hands over Rayâs damp skin and gazed at him with adoration. âDid that help, sir?â
Ray returned a smile as he ran his hands up and down his manâs legs. âSure did. Canât wait to do that without this on.â He gave a quick tug at the fabric of his Big Bearâs purple briefs.
Barry chuckled and let himself fall beside him with a happy groan. âOh, so you didnât like it? Should I not do it again?â
âI did not say that.â He gave him a wicked smile. âThe way you circle those hips. My god! Someone tell Shakira thereâs this big burly man in White Harbor, Oregon, that can give her a run for her money.â
A big grin formed on Barryâs sweaty face. He blushed bright red and let out a giggle of pure joy.
The brisk sound of his laughter made Rayâs heart swell. âYou sure you donât want me to return the favor?â he said, running a finger over the outline that bulged from under Barryâs boxer briefs.
Barry took his hand with gentle fingers and brought it up to his lips. Kissed it. âNot yet. Soon. This was a bigger step for me than I thought I could take. Watching you enjoy it was all I needed.â He looked at him with those clear blue eyes of his. âThis is heading somewhere. You have my word.â Barry rested his head on his chest. âI know Iâm being selfish, asking you to wait.â
Ray ran a tender hand through his hair. âWeâre in this together, alright? I get it. I know how that square brain of yours works. Itâs part of your annoying-yet-adorable charm. When I agreed to start this, I knew it wouldnât be a quick turnaround.â He thought if the right way to phrase his thoughts. âThat said⦠fourteen months. You say this is heading somewhere. Can I at least ask where?â
His boyfriend put his arms around himâand yes, Ray thought, he was his boyfriendâcurled up into a ball, and pressed his head against Rayâs chest, tucking it under his chin. A curious picture, considering how much bulkier he was. It felt right, though. This was where he belonged.
Ray hugged him back and kissed the top of his head.
âYou know how, even after we finished school, I always told you The Pines were my safe place?â Barry said.
âYes?â
âThe truth is, for years now, the only place I truly feel safe is where you are.â
Ray planted another long kiss on the top of his head.
Barry hugged him tighter, tucking his head further under his chin, as if letting go of him was an impossible undertaking. âIâm divorcing Maryann.â His voice sounded more determined than ever.
