Chapter 8

Nancy loved the way Vivian’s hips rolled and her skinny arse moved in her tight jeans as she walked down the hallway towards Nancy’s bedroom. Her rapid heartbeat was strong in her chest, thudding against her breastbone, and she had to bite her lip, so she didn’t tell Vivian that she almost never invited people into her private space. Whenever she paid an escort, they used one of the guest rooms, and it’d been a long time since she’d had sex with someone who wasn’t a professional. The COVID19 pandemic had prevented her from having a reason to leave the house; she’d started meeting with her suppliers via zoom and they had cancelled all the major fashion events where she might have hooked up with someone after the evening dinner party. Too much champagne always led to questionable choices, and she was a tad relieved that she didn’t have that mess in her life for the moment. Maybe in the future, she’d spend less time in regretful morning afters. Would this be the same? She hesitated in the doorway. No, Vivian wanted her as much as she wanted to be with Vivian, and there was no champagne involved to blur their judgement, so she stepped inside her bedroom. Ready.

“Nancy, let me take that gorgeous suit off you.” Confidence surrounded Vivian like a shining aura and it beckoned Nancy like nothing ever before. Yes, that was why this was a good decision. Nancy stepped closer, breathing in the subtle lavender scent she liked to use on her bedsheets. Her bedroom was familiar and yet having Vivian standing there, leaning slightly on her left leg with the other at rest, made the space new. All the fittings and fixtures melted away as she focused her attention on Vivian’s sparkling brown eyes. One more step closer. Four thousand heartbeats and a lack of breath. Vivian lifted her hands and stroked one calloused finger down her cheek. The texture reminded her of the roughness of calico, the fabric she used to plan out designs and see how they might hang on her mannequins. It was a working texture, a tough fabric that could cope with being pulled and tugged, a rough draft of her work where her imagination still had to dominate the process. There was a similarity in being touched by Vivian. It felt like the start of something amazing; calico was the first step in unveiling the beauty of her plans, holding the shape until she found the perfect piece of lace, or leather, or lycra to finish a set.

“Come here.” Nancy shivered at Vivian’s command and heat flashed along her spine, down into her core. Another step closer was all it took for Vivian to lean in and brush her lips against Nancy. A shiver began at her temple and spread across her skin, alighting the room. She barely had time to register it and respond before Vivian’s fingers trailed down her throat, forcing a swallow from her. Down, further down, until her fingers traced along the neckline of her blouse.
