Chapter 11

The shower turned out to be a longer affair than Ben had thought. With Marty in the shower with him, washing quickly devolved into a mutual hand job with lots of kissing and groping. That necessitated another wash and rinse, which made for more groping. His legs finally about to give completely out, he'd stumbled with Marty to his bed, where he decided to forgo drying the rest of the way off, and happily fell asleep in Marty's arms.

He awoke to dim light to discover Marty already awake and watching him.

“Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you,” Marty whispered, ghosting a kiss across Marty's eyelids.

Ben yawned. “You didn't. What time is it?”

“Just gone past five. Hungry?”

Ben's stomach rumbled in response.

“I'll take that as a yes. C'mon, I'll make us a couple of omelets.”

“Okay. I'm pretty sure we have eggs.”

“If not, I'm sure we'll find something. Or we can call for a pizza or something.”

“Sounds good to me.”

Ben followed him into the kitchen, a slight hitch to his step.

“You feel okay?” Marty asked as he looked in the refrigerator.” Yay, we have eggs and cheese. And some sliced ham.”

“Yeah, I'm okay. “

Marty peered at him. “I don't just mean physically.”

Ben looked at him steadily. “Yeah, I'm perfectly fine. I feel, I dunno, even closer to you now.”

Marty beamed. “Yeah. Okay, here, you tear these ham slices into itty bitty bits.”

“Ummm, isn't this lunchmeat?”

“Ham is ham,” Marty declared. “Besides, even using four slices, there's still, like, half a pack left. Even we eat ham sandwiches tomorrow for lunch and the day after and pack some more to eat on the train, there'll probably be a couple slices left over.”

“Okay. Why not? Ham and cheese omelets sound good, anyway.” he began tearing the ham into small pieces. “These small enough?”

“Yeah, that's just fine.” Marty cracked six eggs and began to whisk them, adding salt and pepper and then adding a small amount of milk.

“Okay, I'm done.” Ben pushed the saucer with the bits of ham on it across the island towards Marty.

“Thanks.” Marty turned around and took the saucer to where he was working. He pulled out a tub of butter and placed some in the frying pan he found sitting on the stove, turning the heat on beneath it. Ben continued to watch as Marty tilted the pan to coat the bottom with the melting butter, and then poured the first omelet into the pan. His mouth began to water as the smell of cooking food began to fill the air.

“American cheese, really?” he asked as Marty began to peel film from a slice.

Marty shrugged. “It’s what we have.”

“Oh, okay. I thought there might be some cheddar in there. Jeff must've eaten the rest of it, there was only a small bit of the block left.”

Marty tore the floppy orange cheese into strips and placed them in the pan, then layered bits of ham over.

“Cheddar might've been better, but this is okay too.”

“Certainly smells more than okay.”

Marty laughed. “Your's will be ready in a minute.
